Please note: Our car park has a height restriction of 1.9m.

Entry and exit to the carpark

The Kavanagh Street entry and exit of our Car Park will reopen. Access via Southbank Boulevard will also be available.

Works continue throughout the Southbank precinct. Please ensure you plan ahead and allow additional time to reach the venue and be seated by the start time. If you arrive after the start time, you may not be admitted until a suitable break.

Accessible parking

We have a number of clearly marked accessible parking bays available. Please display your valid Parking Permit for people with disability. Should you need assistance gaining access to St Kilda Rd from the car park when the Theatres Building is closed, please call our Security team on 9281 8316.

Can I reserve a parking spot?

Arts Centre Melbourne does not currently have reserved parking available. We suggest arriving as early as possible, as our flat rates are set up to ensure there is plenty of time before the show commences.

Can I pay for parking by the hour?

The Arts Centre Melbourne car park operates on flat rates only - we do not have hourly rates. See information on our car parking page for details around rates at different times.

Can I pay for parking with cash?

The Arts Centre Melbourne car park operates cashless. We accept all major credit and debit cards on site.

When is your car park open?

Arts Centre Melbourne's car park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This means you can get access to your parked vehicle at any time of the day or night.

Pedestrian access is via the stairs adjacent to the National Gallery of Victoria moat.

Pedestrian access to the car park?

There is no pedestrian access from the Arts Centre Melbourne Car Park to Kavanagh Street. Pedestrian access is via the footbridge on level four of the Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre (PPABC) during the building’s opening hours. To access this footbridge from Kavanagh Street, you can enter the PPABC building, take the lift to the fourth floor and cross the bridge to the Arts Centre Melbourne forecourt.

When the Theatres Building is closed, pedestrian access is via the stairwell located between the Arts Centre Melbourne forecourt and the National Gallery of Victoria moat. Car Park access for people who cannot use stairs is via Southbank Boulevard or by calling Arts Centre Melbourne security on 9281 8316.

Will my car fit through the car park entrance?

Our car park has a strict height restriction of 1.9m, so please only use our car park if your vehicle complies with this.

What is Permanent Parking?

If you regularly use the car park, a Permanent Parking contract could save you money and guarantee a parking space. You will get your own parking card to gain access to the car park whenever you want.

How do I access the car park after hours?

When the Theatres building is closed, pedestrian access is via the stairwell located between the Arts Centre forecourt and the National Gallery of Victoria moat. Car park access for people who cannot use stairs is via Southbank Boulevard or by calling Arts Centre Melbourne security on 9281 8316.

Is there lift access from the car park to St Kilda Road?

The lift, located in the NGV stairwell, is accessible from both the upper and lower level of the carpark and provides direct access to St Kilda Road. From street level, you can find the lift at NGV Waterfall front entrance. Owned and operated by the NGV, the lift only operates during NGV business hours (10am to 5pm daily), however, lift access between both levels of the car park is available 24 hours a day. Outside NGV business hours, access to street level for people who cannot use the stairs is via Southbank Boulevard or by calling Arts Centre Melbourne Security on 9281 8316.

Are there special rates for Families and Morning Melodies events?

If you're attending a ticketed daytime Family show or Morning Melodies, you automatically get the Early Bird parking rate of $17 when entering the Arts Centre Melbourne car park prior to these performances' start times and exiting by 6:30pm. This offer is valid Monday to Friday for daytime car parking only. Public Holidays are excluded.

We are travelling to Arts Centre Melbourne by mini-bus, where can we park?

Our car park has a strict height restriction of 1.9m, so is unsuitable for mini-bus parking. There is bus parking available in St Kilda Road opposite Arts Centre Melbourne. If you would like to reserve bus parking please visit the Melbourne Council Parking Permit website.
