Give a child their first arts experience

The Pawa Café and Bar team have made the difficult decision to close and focus on their successful Indigenous catering business.

Pawa catering will continue as an offering for Arts Centre Melbourne’s events. For more information please visit Pawa catering at Arts Centre Melbourne.

Arts Centre Melbourne is thrilled to welcome Pawa Café & Bar, a new First Nations food and beverage offering to the Hamer Hall Riverfront.

Pawa Café & Bar introduces Indigenous ingredients to Australian dishes to create unique and exciting flavours. Established by Aboriginal woman Niyoka Bundle from the Gundijtmara people of south west Victoria and the Yuin people of Bega, Pawa brings together native ingredients and familiar foods to create unique and exciting dishes.

By day, Pawa offers a seasonal offering of pastries, salads, sandwiches and more, all prepared with with the inclusion of native ingredients. Explore the tastes of native flavours with an ever-changing menu including lilly pilly croissants, strawberry gum brownies and kangaroo meat pies. Dine indoors or out, overlooking the Yarra and enjoy spectacular views of Melbourne, or simply enjoy takeaway to bring to your favourite picnic spot.

Come evening, make yourself comfortable and settle in with a cheese plate or grazing platter made with native flavours, alongside crafted cocktails made with Pawa’s very own Taka Gin and make a night of it. Or, pop in and raise a glass of Victorian wine from the all-Australian wine list with friends for a perfect pre-show.

With a focus on ethical and sustainable practices, Pawa works with a network of Indigenous native food growers, farmers and foragers as well as collaboration with local artisans and makers Cobb Lane, Seven Seeds Coffee, Home Grown Cocktails and The Everleigh Bottling Co.

Pawa means 'to cook' language of the Gunditjmara people.
